The 3d printer team recently helped out our neighbours at the Leighon Library in designing and printing 6 board game pieces for their recently completed board game. You can play the game yourself over the road from us in the Undercroft.
The game pieces themself aim to represent the book chests which were historically used to transport Robert Leighton’s books from Horsted Keynes to Dunblane at the end of the 17th century. They also happen to share a passing resemblance to classic monopoly hotel pieces from underneath – this design helps save material by being hollow, and the 45º angle also removes the need for additional support material while printing them.
