ABOUT US
Dunblane Digital Makerspace is an initiative of Creative Dunblane, set up to give members of the community of Dunblane, Ashfield and Braco access to and training on a range of digital equipment – 3D printers, a laser cutter and a CNC milling machine. The project is run by 30 local volunteers and is based in Dunblane’s Burgh Chambers – part of the town’s Cathedral quarter.
In order to involve as many local people as possible, the Makerspace team holds open days, drop-in sessions for the uninitiated, drop-in and regular training sessions for members, and regular member updates on developments. We also have plans to organise sessions for specific to the needs of local school students.
Makerspace members have undertaken a range of commissions for local groups including signage at the Fourways roundabout, medallions for the Dunblane road race and animal signage for Ecofest.
OUR EQUIPMENT

3D Printer
3D printing is a process that creates an object from a three-dimensional digital model file.
The printing process involves building up thin layers of molten plastic to create an object. As each layer sets, the next layer is printed on top and the object is built up.

CNC Router
A computer controlled machine that can cut, engrave, carve and drill a variety of materials such as wood, plastic and metal. It will meet the exact specifications from a digitally formatted design and can produce detailed designs that would be difficult to create manually.

Resin Printer
Resin 3D printers have the ability to print 3D models that will have super smooth surfaces with fine details. They do this by exposing a container of liquid resin to a UV LED light beam. The light beam hardens the resin layer by layer until a 3D object is created.

Laser Cutter
Laser cutters use a thin, focused, laser beam to cut and etch materials into custom designs, patterns, and shapes as specified by the designer. This process is ideal for several materials, including wood, acrylic and natural fabrics.
